Apple has officially released the software update for the iPhone, iPad and iPod. This update is available in the Settings app or on iTunes 11.1. This update brings a new simpler design, control center, multitasking improvements, camera improvements, airdrop, iTunes radio, Siri improvements and much, much more.
To download, visit the Settings app. Tap General, Software Update and Download and Install under iOS 7.0. I had a few errors when I initially tried installing it saying “Software Update Failed” and “An error occurred downloading iOS 7.0.” After searching the web for an answer to my problem, I wasn’t able to find one. So if this is happening to you, keep trying to download again. Remember, millions of iDevice owners are currently trying to download the same update, so it will take some time. Be patient.
The following iDevices can update to iOS 7:
- iPhone 4, 4S, 5, 5C and 5S
- iPad 2, 3 and 4
- iPad mini
- The 5th generation iPod touch
The iPhone 3GS and 4th generation iPod touch are not able to update to iOS 7.
Check out ArsTechnica for the full iOS 7 review and the features that are not available on every iDevice.
Good luck and enjoy iOS 7.
