MacFan, a Japanese magazine, posted the sketches below of the iPhone 6. These pictures show two different-sized smartphones, which aligns with the rumor that Apple is working on releasing two models. The first one is expected to have a 4.7-inch display and the second one, a 5.5-inch display. According to the images, the devices will be slimmer, flat and bezel-free with a single LED flash and protruding camera (like found on the iPod touch).
iPhone 6 Sketches
These pictures inspired Nowhereelse.fr, a French Apple blog, and Martin Hajek, a graphic designer, to work together and design a very realistic concept for the iPhone 6. If the leaked image above is actually for the iPhone 6, the concept below is likely to be what the iPhone 6 will look like. These designs show an iPhone with rounded corners, a sapphire glass back and a rocker-style volume button.
Here are the top headlines that we saw this week in Apple news and rumors:
iPhone 5c 8GB and iPad 4 Released
This past week, Apple released an 8GB version of the iPhone 5c in countries were 4G LTE is still developing: Australia, China, Europe, etc. Although this iPhone will likely not be available in the United States, it does come at a cheaper price that the 16GB in the countries where it is sold. Apple also replaced the iPad 2 with the iPad 4. This iPad was announced in October 2013 featuring the Lightning connector, Retina display, A6X processor and 5MP camera. You can purchase the iPad 4 here for $399.

iPhone 6 to Keep 8MP Camera
AppleInsider released a report earlier this week, citing ‘people familiar with the matter’ as its sources, that the iPhone 6 will retain the 8MP sensor that was originally announced with the iPhone 4S. Instead of competing with Android by increasing the camera’s megapixels, Apple will focus on improving the image quality and enhancing other components of the camera. The iPhone 6 is also rumored to feature sensors that detect the weather.

Apple Considering Spotify Competitor for Android
Billboard released a report this week that Apple may be working on an on-demand streaming service, similar to Spotify, that would allow listeners to hear songs without purchasing them. Apple might also create the app for Android users in addition to its iOS users. Although Steve Jobs said he would never bring iOS to Android, this is Tim Cook’s Apple and we may see it within the next couple of years.

Healthbook App Leaked
Earlier this week, a report by 9to5Mac revealed some leaked screenshots of the new Healthbook app on iOS 8. It has a similar design to Passbook, with tabs for: blood work, heart rate, hydration, blood pressure, activity, nutrition and more. Apple is expected to reveal iOS 8 at the Worldwide Developer’s Conference in June and release it in September alongside the iPhone 6.
Every year Apple announces a new iPhone, whether it be an upgraded model (#S) or a re-designed model (#), and this year is a re-designed iPhone year. The iPhone 6 is not only wanted, but it is expected. There are many rumors about it, ranging from realistic (larger display) to unrealistic (curved glass). This guide will give you the most up-to-date information about the iPhone 6, updated 02/12/2014.
Here are some recently leaked images of the proposed iPhone 6:
This image shows a probable prototype for the iPhone 6. The back of the device (top) has an Apple logo, FCC information, cut out for dual-LED flash (found on iPhone 5s) and camera. The front shows a larger display (around 5.25 inches diagonally), Touch ID on the Home button and thin bezels.
Here’s another close up of the iPhone 6. This device prominently shows Touch ID on the Home button, the lightning port, the cut outs for the speakers, microphone and headphone jack. Also, the design is very similar to the iPad air and iPad mini.
Rumors for the next generation operating system has been increasingly recently. Likely called iOS 8, based on Apple’s history, it will have a health and fitness focus. Here is a quick sum up of the rumors (and expectations) of this OS.
“Healthbook” (a new app, like Passbook, from Apple that can monitor and store steps taken, calories burned, miles walked and other fitness statistics in addition to monitor a person’s blood-related data points like glucose levels and heart rate)

The iPad Air (the fifth generation iPad) was announced at Apple’s October 22 Event. In addition to a brand new design for the full-sized iPad (mostly taken from the iPad mini), Apple updated its internal components. This iPad will be available for purchase starting November 1. Here’s a breakdown of the new iPad Air with features, tech specs and what’s included along with rumors for future iPads.
My post about the Top Features of iOS 7 has been very popular and it seems like there is no place on the Internet that actually lists all the features of iOS 7. There are some books on the iBookstore where you can learn about some secret features. Here is my free list of 100 features of iOS 7. Enjoy!
Yesterday afternoon, Apple finally released their event invitation for the iPad-focused event on October 22. We expect Apple will announce the slightly thicker Retina iPad mini (second generation), the slimmer iPad mini-shaped iPad 5 (fifth generation full-size iPad), the release date of OSX Mavericks and the Mac Pro.
“We still have a lot to cover”
“We still” –> Apple isn’t finished yet announcing products, the iPad mini 2 and iPad 5 are expected to be announced around this time and Apple is secretly confirming that “yes, we know and yes are going to be talking about iPads.” Also, “still” refers to them updating their products, not necessarily announcing new ones.
“a lot” –> 2 new iPads do not qualify as “a lot”. Apple is expected to announce the iPads in addition to the release date for OSX Mavericks and the Mac Pro. Does 4 new products count as “a lot” to you?
“cover” –> very interesting choice of word, could it refer to the new color choice for the iPads (Space Grey, White and Gold) or maybe a new Smart Cover because their iPad 5 is changing form or something.
The colors of invitation and transparencies are interesting, I don’t think it has a direct referral to the iPads. The leaves could represent Autumn, since the event is in Autumn and the colorful transparent leaves could relate to iOS 7.
Here’s a crazy theory: I mentioned on Facebook that 71% of users have upgraded to iOS 7 within a month. What if the leaves represent people who have upgraded. The non transparent leaves represent people who have not upgraded (they are in the minority towards the top of the invitation) and the transparent leaves are users who have upgraded (the majority towards the bottom of the invitation). Or the leaves are covering one another, directly relating the the “We still have a lot to cover”.
We will know within a few days.
