About a week ago, Apple held a special media event where they announced the rumored iPhone 7 and Apple Watch Series 2. The new smartwatch has a much faster processor, is completely waterproof, and is designed to be more of a sport watch than a luxury watch. Apple also revamped their lineup by removing some watches and adding others.

Apple Watch Series 2

Apple announced five new models of the Apple Watch starting at $269, via Apple.

The new Apple Watch features a similar design to the first-generation Apple Watch, but Apple significantly upgraded the internal specs. The watch is now waterproof up to 50 meters and marketed towards swimmers. It can now track lap count, pace, distance, calorie burn, and share more details about a swimmer’s stroke. The watch has an all-new dual-core processor that is up to 50% faster than the first-generation and it has twice the graphics. The watch also has a GPS chip in it so it can track location, pace, and distance without the iPhone. Finally, the display on the Apple Watch is much brighter and is the brightest display on any Apple product.

Apple updated the Apple Watch lineup with five models that no longer differ based on case material but instead by band and other factors. The Apple Watch Series 1, which is an upgraded first-gen. watch, has the new dual-core processor and starts at $269. This model is only available in aluminum, while the Apple Watch Series 2 also comes in stainless steel. The aluminum watch, previously known as Apple Watch Sport, comes with either a sport band or a woven nylon band. The stainless steel watch, which was the regular Apple Watch, comes with a sport band, stainless steel band, or a leather band. The watch starts at $369. Both of these models come out September 16.

Apple Watch Nike+ has an aluminum case with an exclusive watch face and specially-designed bands, via Apple.

Apple has partnered with Nike for an exclusive Nike+ sport watch. The watch, called ‘Apple Watch Nike+,’ has an aluminum case with a Nike sport band that is designed to be light, flexible, and breathable. It comes with special Nike watch faces and a new running app. The watch has the same waterproof capabilities, fast processor, and built-in GPS like the regular Series 2. It also starts at $369 and ships late October.

The next model is the Apple Watch Series 2 Hermes, which is a special collection of premium watches designed for fashion. This watch has a stainless steel case with a Hermes-designed band in leather. The style of the watch is supposed to resemble iconic Hermes watches with bands of varying cuffs and buckles. Inside the box, there is also an exclusive orange Hermes sport band. This model starts at $1149 and comes out on September 23.

Apple also re-launched their Apple Watch Edition with a new case material that was much less expensive and less customizable. The new Series 2 Edition comes in white ceramic glass with a white sport band. Include in the box is a special stand for charging the watch like the previous Edition had. This watch starts $1249 and goes on sale on September 16.

Each Apple Watch model is available for pre-order now and will be available for sale on their respective release dates. Some of the models are backordered, though, and may take five to seven weeks to ship.
