Here are the latest iOS rumors from this past week:
Dummy Model for iPad Pro Surfaces
In addition to two new larger iPhones, Apple is expected to update its iPad lineup with the iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3 and a new 12.9-inch iPad Pro. This larger tablet has been rumored for a while and may have a release date in late 2014 or early 2015. Nowhereelse.fr found pictures on Weibo, a Chinese micro-blogging site, that claim to be an aluminum dummy model of the iPad Pro. There is no way to confirm if the picture is legitimate or the size of the model. The rumored size is 12.9 inches, which is high above the 9.7″ iPad Air and a little below the 13″ MacBook Air. The picture shows the Apple logo facing the correct direction for an iPad; on computers the apple’s leaf is facing on the longest side. Also, there is an indentation for a camera on the top left and microphone on the top center. The iPad Pro is rumored to feature the A8 Processor, an ultra-high definition Retina display and have the same design as the iPad Air.
iOS 8 Brings Split-Screen Multitasking to iPad
Mark Gurman, of 9to5Mac, wrote a report this week revealing that iOS 8 may also include split-screen multitasking for the iPad Air. The source of his information, cited as people with “knowledge of enhancement in development”, claim that the iPad will be able to split-screen two apps for simultaneous use. This feature is also said to only work for the iPad Air and landscape mode only. Someone would be able to use Pages and surf the Internet at the same time and then easily drag photos from Safari to their report in Pages. iOS 8 will be announced in a few short weeks at WWDC on June 2nd in California.
8GB iPhone 5c Coming to India
The 8GB iPhone 5c, which came out in many non-US markets in the last couple of months, provides a cheaper option to customers who pay unsubsidized prices. Apple started the year in India by reintroducing the iPhone 4 and then killing it off shortly after. A new report by Times of India claims that Apple will bring the 8GB iPhone 5c to India. The phone will be priced at about $600 USD or Rs 35,000 to Rs 37,000 (Indian Rupees).
Dimensions for iPhone 6 (4.7″ and 5.5″)
Thanks to the numerous leaks for the iPhone 6 (dummy models, schematics, 3D images with dimensions and cases) we have a pretty good idea what the phone will look like. UkranianiPhone.com, leaked pictures from Foxconn and Nowhereelse.fr (pictured below) all agree that the 4.7″ iPhone 6 will be 138mm x 67mm and 6.5mm thin. A case for the larger 5.5″ iPhone 6 came out this week to reveal this phone would have dimensions of 157mm x 77mm and 6.7mm thin. This is all compared to the iPhone 5s, which has a 4″ display and dimensions of 123mm x 58.6mm and 7.6mm thin.
